Choosing the right sizes : the size guide

16 July 2024

Single, queen or king beds, children's mattresses, reception or dining room tables… Aigredoux adapts to each interior design to create the most beautiful made-to-measure pieces.

Fitted sheet

We recommend a fitted sheet size identical to that of the mattress in order to fit the contours. We pay particular attention to the height of the mattress and that of the mattress topper for a fitted sheet that stays in place from bedtime to wake up. We recommend the fitted sheet’s corner height 5 to 10 cm higher than that of the mattress.

Duvet cover

Housse de couette

The duvet cover dimensions should match the size of the duvet.

A generous overhang is provided on each side. It is recommended to have about 40 cm of fallout on each side. For a 160 cm bed, a 240x220 duvet cover would be most suitable - or for a 180 cm bed, 260x240 cm - for a 200 cm bed, 280x240 cm.

Beyond the recommended fallout, you will need to adapt to the height of the mattress as well as the bed, and opt for larger fallouts so that the bedding set fits perfectly into the bedroom.

Flat sheet and top sheet

We recommend a sheet size much larger than that of the mattress in order to be able to tuck it in. For example, for a 180 mattress with a 25 cm mattress, a 270 cm sheet will be suitable, but with a thicker mattress a 300 cm sheet will be needed.

Pillow cases and bolsters

The dimensions of the pillowcases are similar to those of the pillows.

As for the bolster, its dimension will be larger to achieve an overhang on each side (approx. 20 cm).

Tablecloth

To define the size of your tablecloth, you will need to add the desired fallout to the measurements of the table. For an "everyday" table we recommend a drop of 20 cm, and for more formal dining, an elegant drop of 30 cm will be more suitable.

To calculate the dimensions of the tablecloth, it is therefore necessary to add 2 times the fallout length to the dimension of the table. For example: a 180x240 table with a drop of 20cm, the tablecloth will be 220x280 cm.
